The Sleep-Training Games

Just a quick post to let you know how Avery’s sleep-training is going, as I’ve had a number of people email to ask.

{Note: We are following the Sleepeasy Method of sleep-training & night-weaning with our 4.5 month old daughter, in the hopes of getting her to sleep until 7am with a dreamfeed at 11pm. This involves doing cry-it-out with timed check-ins, as well as waking baby an hour before her typical nighttime feeds to break her of the habit of crying to eat. We used this method with great success for Mason, and hope to experience the same with Avery.

And when I say “we”, I mean “I”. The “we” was just to be polite and pretend that my husband also carefully researched sleep-training methods for his offspring.}

Night 1 – amazing.

Night 2 – sucked.

‘Nuff said. If this was The Hunger Games, we’d chalk one up for Avery (the Capital) while I (the strong, independent heroine-with-a-heart-of-gold) lie wounded and starving in a ditch somewhere. Jamie (Peeta? Gale? Some random dude?) was apparently “saving his strength” by sleeping through the ordeal.

We’ll try again tonight. I’m nothing if not dedicated.

And don’t you just love my very-topical “Hunger Games” post? Wow, I’ve really got my finger on the pulse of the mommy-blog-reading public.

Not related to the post, but I leave you with a photo of The Capital enjoying her view of our personal Pebble Beach tonight.

Awesome. We’re really getting our money’s worth.

  1. Sorry to hear your night two sucked. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was the same for us. Eventually we had to stop doing check-ins because they infuriated Hana. Anyways, good luck with the next few days. You can do it!

  2. I love the Bumbo picture. If I were to take one of A-WOWW in HER Bumbo it would be ... not quite this happy. She curls up like a little crevette and cries.
