Today's Post, Part 1: Wine, A Little Housekeeping, and A Request

I’m breaking today’s thoughts into two separate posts, just to confuse everyone. Because I’m like that. And here we go!:

Alright y’all.

This is for reals.

Well, mostly for reals, but may also have to do with the fact that I’m about a 1/2 bottle into a nice meritage, too. But that’s neither here nor there (did you like how I added a handy Wikipedia link about meritage wines? Just in case you didn’t know what the hell I was talking about. Because I sure didn’t. I was all Yum, I like wine and then I was all I should mention that in my blog post and then after looking at the bottle I was all Meritage? Is that the woman who squished the grapes? and finally I was all Aaahh, Wikipedia. You are my friend. But not as good a friend as wine). But I digress.

Anyways, I’ve been thinking, and musing, and talking about this a lot with Jamie, and have decided to really make a go at blogging these final months before my maternity leave ends (in January 2013). To see how much I can increase my readership if I actually work at it, y’know? And just to see … what happens.

I should qualify that by “increasing my readership” I don’t mean insincere readers who play the I’ll-“like”-your-blog-if-you-“like”-mine-but-I’ll-never-actually-read-your-posts-because-I-only-want-to-boost-my-numbers game. I mean honest-to-goodness loyal Domestic Project readers, who pop in every now and again because they enjoy what I write and find me at least mildly entertaining (or annoying, but in a car-crash-can’t-look-away kind of thing).

And so I’ve done and will begin doing a number of things with the ‘ol bloggity blog to try and help this along. Please join me on my (short) tour, won’t you?:

First, if you look to your right and directly underneath that fabulous pic of some brunette chick you will see a new Facebook Fan Page box. If you haven’t already done so, clicking the Like button will allow you to easily stay up-to-date on my posts by having them delivered to your Facebook wall. Easy-peasy. Never miss a post or sarcastic status update from me again.

If you look above, you will see that I’ve added a few new tabs across the top. In addition to the About Me and Contact pages you can now also find my favourite posts, made-you-laugh lists (like 5 Things Moms Really Want for Mother’s Day), and my occasional diy projects.

Now if you look waaaay up to the actual blog title you’ll see that I’ve also changed my tagline. While I loved the “definitely not a domestic goddess … but kinda wants to be” motto of days past, I felt like it was just not melding with what the actual blog is about anymore (or ever, if we’re being honest). I’m sure there’ve been countless people of more conservative tastes who’ve stumbled in here thinking it was one of those diy crafting sites, only to have their eyes scarred for life with my non-crafting-site-typical vulgarity and indecent sense of humour. And while I’m also aware that the name The Domestic Project doesn’t necessarily lend itself to being recognizable as a humorous mommy blog, I’m not sure how I feel about doing a complete rebrand at this moment in time. So new tagline = in, new blog name = not yet. Welcome, just anotha funny motha.

Lastly, I plan on upping my Twitter presence by, oh I don’t know, actually tweeting every now and again, so if you want to hop on that bandwagon too, you can find me here.

So …. with all these new updates (and I’m sure more to come) we’ll see where this little blog can go. I love writing, I love making people laugh, and I love my small but loyal group of readers (and by small I mean group size. I have no idea what your physical stature is, nor do I care. I love you all just.the.way.you.are, big or small. Or even if you’re really, really hairy. But maybe not really, really smelly, though I don’t know … I’m just spit-ballin’ here).

Regardless of your size, smell or hairiness, I do need to ask you peeps a favour though.

I know this blog has good stuff, and you know this blog has good stuff … but there aren’t a lot of us. And so I’m asking for your help getting other people to know about the Domestic Project, too. If you genuinely like what you read here, on the Facebook or (god willing)Twitter page, and you think other’s might like it … share. Share, share, and share some more. I don’t care if its by Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, email, word of mouth or yak-express. Just please share, and continuing doing so whenever I tickle your fancy.

Maybe together we can get the word out about this little blog.

  2. Oh man, I've got a link to you up on my blog so for sure every now and again my mom is clicking on it and coming over here...I'll try to up my blogging ante in order to up yours...not "up yours" in the offensive manner, but "up yours" as in blogging traffic...eff.
Anyway, YOU are my favourite blogger...hilarious, smart and well versed in the use of the eff-word...couldn't ask for more!
Am currently waving my half full glass of wine at the computer screen in a weird show of camraderie/a toast to your big adventure. Good luck!
