… and not just off her rocker, either. Observe:
That’s right, folks. Our non-rolling, non-crawling, non-pulling-to-stand-or-even-sit girl has decided to flaunt convention and jump right into walking. Screw you, Dr. Spock!
We shot this video a few days ago but the crazy thing is, the damned baby’s been taking steps for a month now. For someone who was effectively a lump of unmoving flesh for 10 months, she certainly grabbed the bull by the horns on this one. How you can decide to walk when you can’t even roll is beyond me, but patience has never been Avery’s strong suit. She wants to walk so damnit, she’s walking. And if there is a Mum-Mum involved then get the eff out of the way.
Let me assure you, there was not a long lead-up to this skill. Its not like she was standing and/or furniture cruising for months or even weeks. She literally started taking steps away from furniture the day she was first able to stand propped up against it (although at the time it looked more like a Hail Mary dive onto the floor). So progress has been a bit, er, slow, primarily because she's now forced to bother learning things like, oh I don’t know, balance.
But it’s coming. It's coming, and she’s getting braver by the day.
Hang on to your hats, world. Avery’s (finally) on the move!

ReplyDeleteNice work parents on the bribing tools.
ADORABLE!
YAY!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy godson was similar. Didn't pull up. Didn't like standing. Didn't bother crawling because big sister just brought every bribe to him. Then one day he was all "forget this!" and randomly got up and started walking. The next day...climbing.
Oh my goodness! That's just crazy! She's after that Mum mum like it's crack!
