We unleashed an animal Saturday night.
A party animal.
This weekend Jamie, myself and the kids attended the wedding of a dear cousin at the gorgeous and historic Fairmont Palliser. The reception began as any other:
The kids were beautifully behaved. I got in my requisite mom-with-kids pic:
and Ave even fell asleep during speeches, which was nice timing:
And then the dance started.
“I can dance now, mom?” Mace asked politely.
"Yup, sure. Go ahead buddy!”
Jamie and I, who hitherto had never before hit a club with our son, did not realize we had just released the Dance Beast.
Within seconds of hitting the floor he began bustin’ moves like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.
As though it were some god-awful teen dance flick, partygoers soon made a circle around him, where he continued to dance and entertain the crowd for the rest of the his night.
At one point I left to go and change Avery into her sleeper, and returned to find a crowd of people beside the bar cheering on something inside of their circle. Peeking into the centre, I discovered my not-quite-three-year-old son having a breakdance competition with a stranger.
And he was lovin’ the attention:
Jamie’s and my coolness factors skyrocketed at that wedding, since everyone knew we were “Mace’s parents”. And they all thought it was equally awesome when the bartender gave him his requested water in a wine glass.
Around 11pm he finally hit the end of his high:
and, good parents that we are, we took him back to the room for a well-deserved rest.
Man, kids act crazy when you leave your Vodka Red Bull laying around, don't they?
